Margaret
Mirabal has been a proponent of ADR since 1980,
when she took the first 40-hour mediation training course
offered in Texas. She has served the community not only as an
ADR Provider, but also as an instructor teaching ADR skills to
numerous attorneys and non-attorneys.
Additionally, she has been involved for years
in teaching peer mediation skills to junior high and high school
students.
Margaret
Mirabal has also been active in the development of ethical and
qualification standards for mediators through her service on a
Texas Supreme Court Task Force and on the Council of the State
Bar ADR Section, as well as through her service as President of
the A.A. White Dispute Resolution Institute and her membership
on the Board of Directors of the Dispute Resolution Center of
Harris County. She chaired the mediation program at the First Court of
Appeals for many years.
